Activities for Kids when Mama is Exhausted

We all have those days where we are just exhausted. It’s been a long week at work, we’re sick, we were up all night with a younger sibling, the list goes on and on.

During my pregnancy I have had more days than I’d like to admit that it is hard to function. I always feel so guilty putting my kids on electronics to occupy their time because I am to sleepy to entertain or play. This mixing table has been a go to for me this summer. It’s so easy, my little absolutely love it, and it entertains them and keeps them mixing and matching for hours.

I take different Tupperware, mason jars, and mixing cups I have lying around the kitchen and place different fun ingredients inside. (You can honestly use any thing kid safe in your kitchen) but a couple suggestions to get your wheels spinning…

  • Dawn dish soap
  • Water
  • Baking Soda
  • Vinegar
  • Corn Starch
  • Alum
  • Food Coloring in Water
  • lavender buds
  • Elmers Glue

Make sure you put something down because it can get messy and that is the fun of this! My daughter thinks she’s “big” and cooking. My son thinks he will find the perfect mixture to create an explosion. Boys and girls huh? I place about a quarter full in each container give them a bowl and a spoon and have them go to town. I can sit, relax, and be involved without running around like a mad woman and watch their creative flags fly.

Sometimes it’s the simplest things that create the best memories. So mama, kick your feet up and take an hour to just relax and enjoy your little ones.

Happy Crafting.
