Adding Value to your Home – Some of the Things to Think About.

One When it comes to your home, it can often mean that you are always looking at ways to make improvements. There is no denying that the property that you have is a clear investment, be that to move on with your life and buy bigger homes or simply just to give you the nest egg for your future. However, what home improvements could add the most value? With that in mind, here are some of the ones to think about.

Think about the exterior look and first impression 

The exterior look is your homes chance to make a decent first impression, and this can be especially important when it comes to selling your home. So you may want to look at making some improvements to it. This might be investing in the windows and doors and having them upgraded, maybe a new driveway surface such as driveway gravel or tarmac to neaten things up. Or you may even want to focus on the grass and lawned areas and any fencing the front of your home may have. The small changes that you can make to the front exterior of your home can make a big difference, and the investment isn’t too much to make.

Interior looks and upgrades can make a difference

Another thing to think about would be the interior of your home, and this can be done with cosmetic changes or jobs that are a little more substantial. The kitchen and the bathroom are the two rooms that cost the most to upgrade, but they can also add the most value, so you could always attract there. You may also want to think about cosmetic changes such as new flooring like carpets or wooden floors, light fittings or even a fresh coat of paint in some rooms. Opting for a neutral decor with a view to sell will help buyers to visualise themselves in your home, rather than having to look past bright colours. 

Adding an extension

If you want to add the most value to your home the increasing the square footage of space within it is one of the sure fire ways to do it. You could look at adding an extension which could really help when it comes to creating more space, or make the home more saleable in the future. You could add space on to the kitchen and incorporate a kitchen upgrade in the process, you could look at adding bedrooms or converting garages, basements or loft areas into usable spaces. The options are endless and it could be a great way to add some value. 

Looking after the garden

Finally, you may want to look at the garden when it comes to adding value to your home, it might be that you want to think about things such as neat ending up the lawn areas, adding new flowerbeds or designed the garden with a landscape vision in mind. You could even add things like artificial grass or storage to keep the back garden neat and tidy. Adding a patio area or a decking could also be a great way to make the garden a more usable space.

And the next minute we have small children who are looking for attention every minute of every day. It does feel as though there are no minutes left in any day. Because we are so overwhelmed by the amount of work that parent intakes. Being able to to keep up to speed with the school events and the extracurricular activities that our children do. Can actually feel like a full-time job on its own. So quite often you may hear appearance in they cannot believe how fast time goes. But there are reasons for this. And it’s important that you try to take time to enjoy your family since they will soon, and you will miss this time.

Every day we have chores to do, and if we leave it just to ourselves, then we will find that we can never get to the bottom of that to-do list. And listen to the help of the rest of the family is important not only for getting the work done so that we can spend time together. But it’s also important for teaching children responsibility. How many draws per week does your child do question mark and what do you think is acceptable for a child of that age question mark there are resources to help you understand exactly what a child can and cannot be capable of at this age. But ultimately you know your family best and you understand exactly what they are capable of doing. Ultimately sharing the load is always the best way to go. And without a doubt, it will take the pressure off you if you get some help from your children.


Life admin is tricky karma from being able to make appointments for the children, and keeping up to date with all of the bills, there is always something to do and always sent them to be distracted by. Even when you think everything is up to date you will find yourself booking a roof leak repair. We can’t prepare for every eventuality, but if we always make sure we have a little bit of time and space for unexpected problems, then you will have more time to spend with the family. It’s great to expect the unexpected, but unfortunately, even then we may find ourselves in a situation that is difficult. But as long as we do our best to balance the situation, then that’s all we can do.


Of course, having to work takes a lot of our time and energy. But how else do we pay the bills? It’s important to make sure that you choose a work-life balance that works for you. Some people find that shift work or having jobs that fit different patterns work for you and the family. But this doesn’t work for everybody. And there are many options that you can take when it comes to the work-life balance scenario. Any effort you can make in the right direction here will be appreciated.
