Shed Decorating Ideas

Garden sheds can look a little dreary, especially compared to the rest of your home. But there’s no reason in principle why you can’t spruce them up and make them look amazing.

Creating an attractive garden shed isn’t a great mystery. It’s something that practically anyone can do with the right know-how. Take a look at the following ideas:

Add Hanging Watering Cans

This idea needs to be seen to be believed. If you have attractive metal watering cans lying around, why not put them to good use by hooking them up along your shed’s roofline?

Don’t bother hammering each into position. Instead, use a metal chain, thread the watering cans through via their handles, and then fix the chain’s ends into place.

Paint It

Nothing is stopping you from painting your garden shed whatever color you like. You don’t have to put up with bare wood. Even extravagant colors can work in some gardens.

Make It Halloween Themed

With fall on the way, Halloween is nearly upon us. And that means that it is time to get the pumpkins out. Now is the perfect time of the year to add spooky decorations to your shed. You could include skeletons hanging from the rafters, light-up pumpkins in the window, or witches hats in the corners.

Improve The Roof

Most sheds have asphalt roofs to keep the moisture out. They’re okay as far as roofs go, but they don’t exactly inspire.

One option is to replace your current shed roof with metal or tiles. Some owners even place solar on their sheds if they want to keep it off the rest of their homes.

Please don’t underestimate the difference that improving your shed roof can make. You could make it look stunning.

Landscape Around Your Shed

Instead of focusing on the shed itself, you could concentrate your efforts on the area around it. Often, sheds stand by themselves on a patch of grass or next to some shingle. Usually, it isn’t the shed itself that’s ugly, but rather the way the surroundings frame it.

Improving landscaping is relatively easy. The first task is to plant some large, attractive perennial shrubs. Once you’ve got the layout of how you want it, the next step is to add some mulch and other accessories, like picket fencing or boulders. The final effect is landscaping that looks clean, tidy, and beautiful while reflecting the surroundings.

Make Your Shed Door Opulent

Most shed doors are just plants of wood nailed to a Z-frame. But today, there are many more options on the market, many of which are opulent. For instance, you might want to install double French doors and install a canopy above them, protecting the porch area from rain. You might also want to add embellishments to the door – such as brass knockers. Modifications like these help give your shed a summer house feel.

Usually, improving the door is a simple DIY project. You may need to slightly alter that structure of the surrounding shed, but not by much.
