We are in the process of re-doing our back deck and building a new wooden deck in the backyard and I have been so intrigued lately with the elements of it all. I feel a sense of peace unexplainable when I am around the element of wood and so wanted to share with you my exploration of this earthy element.
Emotions that correspond to Wood harmony are expression, independence, kindness, forgiveness, patience, thoughtfulness, foresight, self-expansion, and identity.
Wood also governs the mental and spiritual eye. The wood element is one that seeks ways to grow and expand. Wood heralds the beginning of life, springtime and buds, sensuality and fecundity.
Wood needs moisture to thrive – you can actually test the moisture in the wood with this handy dandy tool – In Chinese medicine, wood is associated with negative feelings of anger and positive feelings of optimism, patience and altruism.
Pshhh no wonder its so grounding to be around! The smell, the feel it all has such meaning. Before we paint we are writing our affirmations on the wood to add a lil extra touch and intention into this project. So, let’s stock up on the sharpies and get to affirming!
The reiki master in me had to explore which chakra wood was associated with and of course wood – Third Eye & Heart.
When doing a project (as I get older) it becomes less about the finish line and more about the experience and making it thought out and meaningful. (Feels more like joy and less like “work” that way).
Have you ever re done a deck before? Tell me all your do’s and don’ts..
With love and gratitude,
